چکیده
The authors present a patient who was hospitalized in their department due to indurative edema of the left lower eyelid. Computed tomography (CT) of the orbit confirmed the suspicion of tumor affection behind the globe. The general condition of the patient was not altered. Biopsy and following histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of inflammatory pseudotumor of the orbit. The patient was treated systemically with corticosteroids and the condition normalized.

Inflammatory Pseudotumor Of The Orbit: A Histopathologic And Immunohistochemical Study Of 32 Cases
Background and Objective: Inflammatory pseudotumor is a lesion composed of proliferating spindle cells with mixed inflammatory infiltrates. Some authors have proposed the name inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor as a proper descriptive term rather than the vague inflammatory pseudotumor. The aim of this study was to verify the myofibroblastic origin of spindle cells in idiopathic orbital inf...

An inflammatory pseudotumor (IPT) is a rare benign lesion, characterized by nonneoplastic proliferation of inflammatory cells and presence of intermingling collagen fibers. IPT commonly occurs in the lungs and orbita, while an intraspinal IPT is extremely rare. IPT can mimic both clinically and radiologically malignant processes, and making a definitive preoperative diagnosis is often difficult...

متن کاملInflammatory Pseudotumor of the Head Presenting with Hemiparesis and Aphasia
Inflammatory pseudotumor most commonly occurs in the orbit and produces orbital pseudotumor, but extension into brain parenchyma is uncommon. We report a case of inflammatory pseudotumor involving sphenoid sinus, cavernous sinus, superior orbital fissure, orbital muscle, and intracranial extension into left temporal lobe producing right hemiparesis and wernicke's aphasia. The patient improved c...
